Mr. George M. Sands, is a resident of Mount Upton, New York and President of the Market Research Initiative (MRI). MRI is an organization dedicated to involving Blacks in economic development and involvement of Blacks as consumers in the Southern Tier of New York State. MRI is focused upon the overall economic climate promoting improvement and growth within the Southern Tier regions. This effort will positively impact all residents within the region.
Additionally, Mr. Sands is one of Twelve " Regional Coordinators" of a New York State organization, "Forging The Freedom Trail Project." With an agenda of promoting education, preservation, commemoration of Harriet Tubman and tourism. Mr. Sands coordinates New York's "Central Leatherstocking Region" for the project. The organization promotes "initiation and development of the organizational agenda in its respective Twelve regions." Mr. Sands is working with Bainbridge, NY's Chamber of Commerce, the NY Route 206 organization, and the South Central NY Resource Conservation and Development program based in Norwich, New York. These organizations represent just a few involved in the ongoing effort for the initiation of such attractions as "Agri-Tourism" and NY Route 206 scenic byway project. Utilizing Black History in conjunction with regional historical sites, local agricultural-tourism attractions will develop. In addition, our one hundred seventy-five mile NY scenic byway, Route 206, from Roscoe to Whitney Point, is slated for fresh tourism developments.
Mr. Sands background in economic development, and his more than fifty year interest in history, has caused him to observe and to record many historical moments, facts and information concerning Black history. This documentation has resulted in the formulation of this eye opening "Time Line of Black History" for the purpose of potential economic growth and the celebration of Black history.
Mr. Sands is working on this "Time Line" with the services of two local community businesses, MKl.Net an Internet Services Provider and the web design services of a home based E-business, Munholand.Com with a regional web directory www.Upstate88.com.
This insightful information and time line of documented events is for your enjoyment and to educate regarding the contributions made by African Americans. In addition, this time line will assist in the development of a "Syllabus" for the New York State Educational System and local educational school systems offering the opportunity for a correct curriculum of African American history throughout the diaspora.
This "Time Line of African American" historical events is incomplete. Information concerning the historical time line data of African Americans, events of "Lost and Found" and more "Black History" is currently being prepared for publishing, therefore stop back to learn more.
We have recorded, so that these historic accounts will not be lost forever and can be reviewed in a format easily understood. We encourage you to participate in this worthy effort to help identify, preserve and record these important historical events.
